building livesWhile we are excited about the idea of having a permanent facility as our church home, we realize that this is not about the building. It is about building lives. We see this facility as a tool to do the work that God is calling us to do in this community. Through a permanent facility Evergreen’s potential to reach the surrounding community for Christ will be exponentially greater! Imagine all the possible new ways that an inviting, full-time facility can help us realize our calling to “Make an Eternal Difference” in people’s lives.
The surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward. 2 Kings 19:30 (NASB)
God gave us this promise over three years ago. While we were still renting a school in Minneapolis, experiencing declining attendance and wondering what our future held, God showed our pastors that He will once again help our church to become fruitful. Today the “surviving remnant” is seeing the promise fulfilled before our eyes! The people in our church are “taking root” in their faith and “bearing fruit” with their lives.
Our congregation now has an opportunity to “take root” in this community. As a church that has had to move many times over the years (four long-term facilities and four temporary facilities), we believe that God wants us to establish roots in this neighborhood. Owning a building will give us greater flexibility in planning and scheduling teachings, seminars and outreach events designed to help the people in the church to take root in their faith.
GREATER COMMUNITY PRESENCE
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world… Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all” (Matthew 5:14-15 NLT). We don’t want to hide what God is doing in our midst! Many more people will discover a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ simply through our long-term, visible presence in the community.
GREATER STABILITY
A permanent home sends a strong message to our church family and our community: ‘We are here for good—for this generation and generations to come!’ A permanent facility allows us to provide a lasting home for new and growing Christians—and offers a stable environment for us to meet the needs of those yet to come to faith in Christ.
GREATER OPPORTUNITY
The Great Commission calls for the mobilization of human and material resources to spread the Gospel to the entire world. A full-time facility will become a base for creative local outreach as well as developing workers for future church plants in the years to come.
